Mount Vernon Presbyterian School and Ka-Ching!

The prestigious Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Atlanta USA is running a week-long Ka-Ching! Entrepreneurship course. The week has only just started, but the feedback from Kelly Hilton-Green is that the kids are 'extremely excited'.

Kelly is getting the kids to start and run a real business following the Ka-Ching! structure. We will keep you posted as soon as more feedback comes in!

Kind regards
Greg Bunyard

Hi Greg,
I trust all is going well with Ka-Ching in South Africa.
As you know we used Ka-Ching to kick start our entrepreneurial program me in the 6th grade at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.

To begin the week we discussed what their options might be after they leave school and highlighted the problems facing school leavers in this day and age. For an entire week we worked through the teacher’s workbook and facilitated the kids in creating their own companies, inventing or coming up with a consumable product, marketing and then finally selling their products.

Each company appointed a CEO, treasurer, secretary/ archives manager, production and marketing manager. And away we went.

I was completely blown away by the way our students dived into this project. They were engaged from the beginning and the programmed was a huge success. We gave each company a budget of $20 that they could use at their discretion but they had to be accountable for every cent spent by providing receipts and invoices. Our school loaned out a total of $320. We held a market day for the 4th and 5th grades and after each group had paid back the initial investment it became evident that each and every company had made a profit. The class raised a total of a little over $700 which they donated to the school building fund. Apart from the obvious joy of watching these students make money it became evident that they had learnt a huge amount about money management, planning, and personal skills like public speaking.

We are already planning to use Ka-Ching again next year but want to try and incorporate it in much more depth. An engaged student is amazing to watch. Thanks for all the ideas and help. I look forward to seeing and hearing from many more success stories in the future.

Thank you.
